A Free State police officer accused of intimidation and crimen injuria after threatening to shoot his supervisor has been released on bail of R1000.


Lulama Given Magwevana appeared in the Koffiefontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday 21 October 2019 following an incident that took place on 13 October where he threatened to shoot his warrant officer after a misunderstanding. The provincial spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Phaladi Shuping,says the case has been postponed to 27 November 2019. He says Magwevana is also accused of using the state motor vehicle without authorisation.

On Sunday police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, told OFM News that the accused is also said to have threatened and insulted a data typist who was working with them. 

The town has recently made national headlines when Lungelo Khathane (16) lost his life after he was stabbed by a fellow pupil after a fight broke out outside Reikaeletse Secondary School. On Sunday residents held a prayer session at Diamanthoogte Combined School.

A community leader and pastor,Simon Khomojong, described the incident as the work of the devil and said a ssuch the residents should pray for both families of Khathane and the accused in the matter - a teenager who has since appeared in court and was remanded in custody at the Grootvlei Prison’s Juvenile Section in Bloemfontein.
