Body of a man found in Bloemfontein dam─── 06:52 Wed, 18 Sep 2019
The body of a man believed to be in his 40’s has been discovered at the Corobrick Dam in Sonneblom Street, Heidedal, in Bloemfontein.
According to police spokesperson, Ikobeng Hlubi, an inquest docket was opened. Hlubi also stated that a witness and his two friends reported the incident at the Heidedal Police Station after they discovered a person wearing a red t-shirt lying in the dam. According to community members, the Dam is problematic and has led to several drowning incidents.
This after a man was killed by a goods train earlier the same day (16 September 2019) on the Bloemfontein More Poort Railway in the area. OFM previously reported that eyewitnesses claimed that he had thrown himself in front of the train, but police later revealed that the unidentified man was lying on the tracks when the train approached. A culpable homicide case has since been opened.
