NW launches manhunt for triple murder suspects | News Article

North West police have launched an investigation into a triple murder incident that took place in Kanana near Orkney outside Klerksdorp on Friday night.

Three people believed to be foreign nationals from the neighbouring country of Lesotho were shot dead. Police spokesperson, Amanda Funani, says according to information the victims were socialising at a house when the incident occurred.

OFM News has reliably learned that the incident may have been related to an illegal mining deal gone wrong. Funani says no one has been arrested at this stage, but a manhunt has been launched.

"Police on patrol heard gunshots and went to investigate. On arrival at the scene, they found two men with gunshot wounds, lying face down in a pool of blood. Furthermore, the third suspect, who was trying to escape, was found lying outside the house also with a gunshot wound to his chest,” she says.

Funani says the three victims are between the ages of 25 and 30.

"The motive for the shootings is still unknown and the police are appealing to anyone, who can assist with information that may lead to arrests to phone Sergeant Ignus van Heerden of Kanana Police Station on 018 476 1115,” she further adds.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Commissioner, Baile Motswenyane, condemned the incident and also requested members of the community to assist the police in identifying and arresting the perpetrators. She says the police are not going to leave any stone unturned in solving this case.
