ANC's task team solution a waste - DA─── 09:41 Thu, 15 Aug 2019
The DA in the Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality in the Free State does not believe in the ANC’s developmental plan.
This, after the DA noted the presentation of yet another recovery plan for the collapsed Maluti-A-Phofung presented by the deputy minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Parks Tau, and the provincial MEC of Cogta, Thembeni Nxangisa, earlier this month.
The DA councillor in the Maluti-A-Phofung region, Allisen Oates, told OFM News yesterday that the ANC has once again wrecked a local government and needs to deploy a task team to do the work of highly paid officials, duplicating wasted public money. Oates stated that this comes after Maluti-A-Phofung’s financial integrity has been decimated by the ANC, which resulted in Eskom not receiving payment since August last year. She also stated that the proposed recovery plan includes a technical task team that will temporarily fill vacant positions, stabilising the labour environment and service delivery, and yet again attempt a financial turnaround. However, Oates mentioned that should her party be successful in the upcoming by-elections, it would immediately appoint properly qualified senior managers and technical directors to all critical posts, by ensuring that funds are spent to properly equip staff with the resources required to undertake their work and ensure sound financial management.
