NW ANC IPC talks tough | News Article

The newly established ANC Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) in the North West says bold action will be taken against those found to be on the wrong side of the law and ultimately dragging the name of the party into disrepute.

The chairperson of the committee, Hlomani Chauke, says in the spirit of unity, despite the challenges faced by the party in the province, the committee will focus and forge ahead with renewed commitment and conviction to craft and implement a unifying programme of action.

This is his reaction on an earlier statement by the DA leader in the province, Joe McGluwa, who told OFM News that the committee consists of individuals that include the likes of Supra Mahumapelo, who allegedly failed to curb what he calls massive looting of the provincial coffers. Chauke says no court of law has thus far found Mahumapelo or any other member in the PIC accused of wrongdoing, guilty of any crime and therefore the accusations are baseless.

He says the only way the committee will be successful in its endeavour to see the province and the office of the premier succeed, is when the party members put their differences aside and come together to rescue the party from the troubles it's facing.

OFM News previously reported that McGluwa said instead of decisively dealing with corruption and mismanagement, the ANC is establishing yet another pointless committee to create the illusion of change.  He added that there have been a countless number of interim committees and task teams and yet no real results or improvements have come out of it and instead, the provincial government and 15 municipalities remain under administration. But the committee, in its statement on Monday 12 August 2019, said it noticed the state of branches and the decision by the National Executive Committee (NEC) to disband the ANC Regional Executive Committees of Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati.

McGluwa further said as the ANC tries to deal with pleasing different factions within its ranks, it is the people of the North West who continue to suffer without basic services.
