ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, says a bus, a light motor vehicle and a bakkie are believed to have collided just past the residential area, Mandela View. Meiring says four people sustained moderate injuries in the collision and were taken to nearby hospitals by emergency medical services. No serious injuries or fatalities were reported.
Elsewhere in the Free State, approximately an hour later, a head-on collision was reported on the R57 between Heilbron and Sasolburg. It is yet to be confirmed how many vehicles there were in the collision. Five people sustained critical injuries, while 16 others had injuries ranging from moderate to minor. The injured were taken to Tokollo Hospital in Heilbron for medical attention.
Less than three weeks ago, six people tragically lost their lives on the notorious N8 road, while four others were left injured when two bakkies collided head-on. The accident occurred between Bloemfontein and Botshabelo, similar to the more recent N8 accident. It is alleged one of the drivers lost control of one of the bakkies when the tyre of said vehicle burst.
