The N12 route between Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom, in the vicinity of Ikageng, remains closed due to service delivery protests.
Police spokesperson, Adele Myburgh, confirms the protests that broke out in the early hours of this morning, has now seen a truck looted. She says protesters have blocked the road and she urges motorists to make use of alternative routes. She says there has thus far not been any arrests and confirms the police are monitoring the situation closely.
It is alleged that the protests are a build-up for the protests that broke out on Monday on the same route allegedly due to a lack of service delivery by the local municipality.
Residents in this area have in the past accused the management of the municipality of ignoring repeated calls for better service delivery as well as job creation.
Myburgh confirms the video below, which is circulating on social media, is one of the roads in Ikageng.
