NW ANC regions approach #Magashule | News Article

The disgruntled North West ANC members in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda region have written to the party’s Secretary-General, Ace Magashule, seeking clarity on their reinstatement as the recognised structure in the area.

The letter follows after a group, including the Bojanala region, together with former premier, Supra Mahumapelo, won two court actions against the ANC over the disbandment of the provincial executive committee.

The Dr Kenneth Kaunda regional secretary general, Lopang Rothman, in a letter to Magashule says the decision to disband the regional structure was not supported by any valid or sound reason. He says they are the victims of irregularities that threatens the rule of law.

Lopang says the previous Provincial Task Team embarked on an aggressive campaign to dissolve branches, regions and other structures that were duly elected by members, replacing legitimate executive’s members by persons appointed through muddy processes.

In a letter, Rothman wrote that the Regional Executive Committee (REC) was elected by the same branches, which participated in the 2017 National Conference of the ANC that was held in Nasrec, Johannesburg. “On October 15, 2018, we were told by [Former Home Affairs Minister] Malusi Gigaba, that the erstwhile [previous] PTT disbanded our REC and no reasons were provided for such a decision,” he says. “We did on many occasions sought an explanation as well as reasons thereof and dates or any written confirmation thereof, but it was not forthcoming,” Lopang concluded.
