WATCH: Residents warned to stay safe amidst heavy rains, fog─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 07:44 Thu, 25 Apr 2019
The Free State government has warned residents to protect themselves amidst heavy rains and cold weather.
This, after households, schools and businesses in the Matjhabeng Municipality have been affected by heavy rain with more than 140 people in Bronville, Welkom, being moved to places of safety due to localised flooding.
The South African Weather Service's Michael Nethavhani told OFM News that more rain is expected in the central parts of the country. He says the accumulated rainfall across the Free State has thus far exceeded more than 50 millimetres.
Nethavhani says the province is also experiencing low-level fog and poor visibility. He adds that temperature will this week remain low in single digits, but are expecting the sun to shine over the weekend.
