UFS students reach QwaQwa after 5 days of walking for a good cause | News Article

The President of the Student Representative Council at the University of the Free State, Sonwabile Dwaba says all he wants to do is get a good rest.

This,  after he spent the better part of the last five days walking so that he would be able to raise R2 million for financially disadvantaged students who intend to study at the university during 2020.

Dwaba was part of a team of five from the university who, under “The Walk to Uhuru” project, walked 350 kilometres from the Bloemfontein campus to the university’s QwaQwa campus for this cause.

The team arrived at the campus about two hours ago, with Dwaba saying while he is tired, this is only but one part of the initiative, as they will now also prepare to trek the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania also for this purpose.

Leading up to this event in September, Dwaba says the team will be visiting schools around the province to inform them of this cause, while also training for the Uhuru summit.
