The ANC in the Free State is confident the party’s manifesto launch this weekend will proceed smoothly.

The manifesto set to be delivered by ANC National Chair, Gwede Mantashe, is expected to take place at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday. Provincial spokesperson, Thabo Meeko, told OFM News they have acknowledged the warning issued by the South African Weather Services about heavy rain and chances of flooding, but is certain the event will go ahead, come rain or shine. Many roads in the Bloemfontein area has since Wednesday been flooded, resulting in a complete standstill of traffic whilst residents in some areas battle to keep their property from flooding. Meeko says final preparations for the launch are running smoothly and are making provision for such weather conditions.

The party yesterday held a media briefing to announce their state of readiness, where they also announced that they are hoping that 80% of the Stadium will be filled by people from the Mangaung region.

The launch will, however, no longer be addressed by President Cyril Ramaphosa himself but by Mantashe, as Ramaphosa will be delivering a keynote address at the ANC’s manifesto launch in Thohoyandou in Limpopo.

Both the manifestos in the Free State and Limpopo are expected to outline a plan of growth for the provinces for the next five years and provide an opportunity for the party to follow up on commitments that were made in the past.
