Man’s fiancé killed in house robbery next to farm in NW | News Article

A 30-year-old man’s fiancé was shot and killed during a robbery at a house, close to a farm, in an area known as Welgegund in the North West.

This is according to police spokesperson in the province, Sam Tselenyane, who revealed that on Saturday, at around 23h55, five African men forcefully entered into the home of Richard Phiri who was asleep with his 27-year-old fiancé, Mayor Beza. Upon realizing that there were intruders, Beza screamed.  This prompted the suspects to start firing shots at the couple. Beza suffered two shots in her upper body, one of which was in her chest, which ultimately led to her death. Meanwhile, Phiri was shot in his lower body. The suspects then fled the scene and are still at large.

“We don’t know at the moment if there were any goods that were taken from the house, but we’ve registered a case of murder, attempted murder and house robbery. The suspects are still at large and the police are investigating the murder,” Tselenyane concluded.

Meanwhile, Afriforum’s Ian Cameron reported on the murder on his Twitter page and referred to it as a “farm murder”, however, Tselenyane refuted this saying the killing was not a farm murder as it took place on the house next to the farm in the Schoemanville, in the Hartebeespoort Dam area, as opposed to on the farm itself.
