Agriculture minister, Thoko Didiza, says the process is doing well, but there are still some concerns especially with regards to land issues. She told OFM News’ Christal-Lize Muller at the African Farmers Association of South African’s third Agri-Business Transformation Conference outside Bloemfontein, the scale at which land is being redistributed remains a challenge because of a range of factors.
According to Didiza mechanisms used in the process include negotiations between farmers or landowners and the beneficiaries who want to acquire land, either as restitution claimants or beneficiaries of land reform. There are difficulties because of it being time-consuming transactions, among other issues.
