The African Farmer’s Association of South Africa (Afasa), is of the opinion that bold and ambitious actions to develop and support black farmers are needed.

This is needed in order for them to become catalysts in achieving the goals of the National Development Plan which remain a priority in South Africa.

Chairperson of Afasa, Neo Masithela, says radical transformation of the industry cannot be overemphasised. In that regard, the organisation welcomes the allocation of R3,9 billion set aside for black farmers.

He says the report by the Presidential Advisory Panel on Land Reform and Agriculture, which was handed over to President Cyril Ramaphosa, must officially be made public soon in so that all role players can take part in the way forward regarding the implementation of land expropriation without compensation.  This process should, however, take place within the laws of South Africa, says Masithela.

OFM News’ Christal-Lize Muller spoke to Masithela.
