White stray lioness still on the loose in North West | News Article

The search for a stray lion, presumably a female, continues in the Vermaas and Bospoort agricultural area in North West.

It comes after the tracks of a lion were seen by a farmer in the farming area on Friday.

More reports followed about lion tracks that have been spotted in the same area. Jonathan Denga from the Department of Rural, Environmental and Agricultural Development in the province, says a problem animal control specialist, and biodiversity officers from the department, as well as local farmers are part of the continuing search for the lioness.

A police helicopter is also used. Denga says there is a strong suspicion that it is a white lioness. OFM News’ Christal-Lize Muller got the latest from Denga...

That was Jonathan Denga from the Department of Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development in North West.

Denga warns communities to be on their guard and avoid the lioness when spotted. People can call their nearest police station if the lion is detected or they can call Denga directly on 072-810-8521.
