#Coronavirus: FS reports second death; family asks for privacy | News Article

The family of the second COVID-19 death in the Free State is appealing to members of the public to respect their privacy.

This, as the number of the Coronavirus cases countrywide has increased to 1 505 and the country still awaits Health Minister Zweli Mkhize’s confirmation on two Kwa-Zulu Natal deaths.

The Free State Health Department meanwhile confirms it is providing counseling to the bereaved family. In response to OFM News’ inquiry, departmental spokesperson Mondli Mvambi highlights that the family is not keen that the department release the name of the deceased.

He adds that the wife of an 86-year-old Pastor, who died from COVID-19 on Monday, is in a stable condition at Pelonomi Hospital.

He adds that they will also not release her name to protect her family’s privacy.

OFM News previously reported that the 86-year-old pastor, the first person to succumb to the virus in the province, and his wife were part of the Global Reconciliation Church, whose pastor also tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a church gathering at Divine Restoration Ministries.
