New week - new music! | News Article

Exciting new releases by artists such as Miley Cyrus, Rachel Platten and Shania Twain - have a listen...

1. Rachel Platten – Broken Glass

Rachel Platten is starting the next cycle of her career literally: the video for her new song , "Broken Glass," features her and a group of other women riding bicycles through LA's Chinatown. It's not your normal bike ride, though: the women, who hail from around the globe, perform all kinds of balancing tricks and flips on their cycles as Rachel sings the anthemic tune about overcoming the odds. Two of the women are German world bike-riding champions.

Rachel wrote the following of the song, "‘Broken Glass’ is my rallying cry of release, healing, excitement, hope, and joy. It’s a celebration of the power of women -- of our unity, strength, and fierceness, and of just how freaking awesome we are. We are bada** on our own, but we’re unstoppable when we come together.” Rachel adds that the song is "for all the people who are facing adversity and willing themselves to see the other side of it. It’s for the women who will not be silenced, who are changing the landscape of our country and world without fear. It’s for the young girls out there, dancing without a care in the world and embracing their truest, most authentic selves."

The song is the first release from her upcoming album, due to be released in the next few months. It's the follow up to her major-label debut, Wildfire, which features the hits "Fight Song," "Stand By You" and "Better Place."

2. Miley Cyrus – Younger Now

Without early warning, global superstar Miley Cyrus gifted the world with the second sample of what it’s like when she puts down the synths and the production software and allows real instruments to do the heavy lifting.

The just-released “Younger Now” serves as the second single from her upcoming sixth album of the same name, which is expected on September 29. The full-length follows 2013’s Bangerz, which saw her go in a number of different poppy directions, many of which were commercially successful, and 2015’s Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, which failed to chart entirely, but which was probably more of a passion project for her than a serious attempt at glory.

“Younger Now” was written by Cyrus herself and co-produced alongside Oren Yoel, a frequent and favorite collaborator of hers. The two have previously worked together on a number of projects, and he seems to be the driving force behind this new style that the former Disney celeb has chosen to lead with.

3. Shania Twain – Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed

Shania Twain debuted a new song and performed her latest single on NBC's Todayshow Friday morning (June 16). The country singer -- who's releasing “Now”, her first new album in 15 years, in September -- hit the stage in New York to sing "Swingin' with My Eyes Closed" and "Life's About to Get Good."

Twain also treated the audience to a couple of her classic hits, "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" and "That Don't Impress Me Much." Those who tuned in got a slice of Shania trivia, too. In a round of "Country Confessions," the singer explained that she wrote her 1997 country-pop hit "From This Moment On" at, of all places, a soccer game. "I write best when I'm really bored and I have nothing else going on," she explained, "and the game was really boring."

Twain's “Now” album drops on Sept. 29. Her last full-length album, “Up!” was released back in 2002.
