Becoming Woman: Always remember you are Brave, Brilliant, Bold and Beautiful! Embrace your period!

Mimi was founded in October 2013 by Ramona Kasavan. Mimi is a Social, Capitalistic and Public Service Company that provides and empowers young women with Mimi sanitary pads and menstrual education to assist them with school and other challenges that young women face in our country.

Mimi, formally known as Happy Days, is a proudly South African, locally produced sanitary pad that is distributed among historically disadvantaged communities to keep girls in school.
There are reports of girls missing school during menstruation because they come from homes that cannot afford to buy them sanitary towels each month. Rather than face the discomfort of going to a school that does not have proper ablution blocks for use during this time, the girls elect to sit at home and go through the cycle using a banana leaf, a piece of tissue or sitting on top of a bucket filled with dirty water. These girls are the reason that Mimi was formed.

The heart of Mimi is to empower and inspire girls and women of South Africa, to live the best they can. The vision is to create “Happy Days” with the aspiration of uplifting, sharing and caring.

Mimi Women, South Africa’s first and only black owned sanitary pads company, will be handing over R25 000-00 worth of sanitary pads to more than 200 girls on Monday the 13th of February in Bloemfontein. The donation was made by investment company Bombenero Investments.

Bombenero Investments contribution will help address the fact that more than two million school girls miss up to 60 days of school a year, as a result of not being able to afford sanitary towels. Thanks to this generous donation, Mimi Women will be able to supply more than 200 girls with sanitary pads for the next four months. These girls will no longer have to experience the abuse they would normally be subjected to from their peers, parents and blessers, because they cannot afford a basic necessity to manage a monthly menstrual cycle. Bombenero Investments plans on supporting these girls throughout the year.

Please join Mimi Women for an extremely worthy cause, where they will be handing over much needed sanitary pads to the girls of Arbeidsgenot Primary School in Bloemfontein
