Themba Zwane - Kickoff

SuperSport United scored five second-half goals on Wednesday night in their Premier Soccer League clash to hammer Clinton Larsen’s Golden Arrows 5-2.

The win at the Lucas Moripe Stadium saw Matsatsantsa A Pitori regain the top spot in the standings.

SuperSport, Wits and Cape Town City FC are all on 28 points, but the side from the capital city has a superior goal difference.

At Peter Mokaba Stadium Polokwane City scored an 80th-minute penalty to share points with Maritzburg United following a 1-1 draw.

Platinum Stars and Orlando Pirates shared points with a goalless draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Rustenburg.

In the final match of the round, the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns moved into the top five after beating Bloemfontein Celtic.

Themba Zwane broke the deadlock for the Brazilians with a 78th-minute goal at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium.

Phunya Sele Sele could have won the game had it not been for two shots that we cleared off the line in the match. At the same token, the Celtic goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb was in sublime form to restrict the visitors to just the single goal.

Following the match, the Celtic caretaker coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, said he felt luck wasn’t on their side at the Slaughterhouse.

“The only thing I can say is that today, luck wasn’t on our side and maybe it was a goal. I haven’t seen it, I still have to look at the replay, but everything that we tried couldn’t go in”.

Sundowns are lying in 5th after 10 games but they have played between 4 and 6 less games than any of the other teams in the league.

Celtic are 13th in the standings, one point ahead of Free State Stars. On Tuesday night Ea Lla Koto were beaten 3-0 by Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium.
