COLUMN: Feelings don't matter | News Article
Fannie ZIm/OFM News

There will be days, if not weeks, or even worse… months that you wake up in the morning and not FEEL like waking up or going to work.

Moments you FEEL like not waking up, wiping away the tears off your precious face and face the world after heartache because you feel ugly and worthless, simply because someone hurt you and made you feel that way.

There will be times that you wake up and not FEEL like being with your partner anymore, as that love that usually comes easily, will feel out of your heart's reach.

At times you will even FEEL like giving up on pursuing your dreams and ambitions because it feels like it's been forever and you still have nothing to your name...

But you see, my friend, life is not a matter of FEELINGS but rather a matter of CHOICES and DECISIONS we make.

Let's face it, if we all did things based on how we FELT, nothing could ever get done.

Look, each and every single person would’ve been unemployed now if they obeyed that feeling of not wanting to wake up; everyone would’ve been single now if they let that momentary feeling of not wanting to be with their partner anymore outweigh the decision and choice that made them choose that partner specifically out of so many people, and no one would’ve been successful if everyone gave up their pursuit of wealth and success simply because they felt like giving up when the going got tough.

Let me tell you an interesting story; it took me 6 years to complete a 4-year LLB degree; and at times, if not most of the time, as my friends graduated and progressed in life, I felt stagnate, I FELT like giving up; but the choice and decision I made to get my degree; was greater than that temporary feeling of wanting to give up.

CHOOSE to do things based on the choices and decisions you make and not how you feel at that moment.

Happy CHOOSEDAY!
