The Proteas have fired a warning shot at the Black Caps of New Zealand ahead of Friday’s T20 International and the five-match One-Day International series.

The batsman, Faf du Plessis, today said that their World Cup semi-final defeat to the Black Caps in Auckland is something they won’t forget, but will be looking to set the record straight.

Du Plessis welcomes the fact that the busy tour is being played in the Land of the Long White Cloud ahead of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, and the conditions are similar to England where the event is being hosted.

Du Plessis said that the Kiwis have to be wary of their strong batting line-up.

“I think our batting line-up, it is pretty self-explanatory that if you look at our top five or six it’s a well-established top six that has scored plenty of runs for a long period of time.

“Then our bowling attack is probably not so experienced, but it is a young and vibrant attack.

“Our spinner (Imran Tahir) it’s the number one bowler in the world in both T20 International and One-Day International cricket and he is in really good form, so it’s nice that we have him in our side”.

The Kiwis and South Africa face each other on Friday in the one-off T20 International with the first One-Day International being played at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Sunday.
