“He will do a physical and movement preparation on the clay, play a warm-up event, probably a Challenger Tour tournament to try and get some matches before he goes to compete at Roland Garros.”

South Africa’s Lloyd Harris will begin his preparations for the French Open next week in Portugal.

Harris, who won back-to-back titles on the hard courts in Asia on the ATP Challenger Tour, will turn his attention to clay in preparation for the year’s second Grand Slam.

Harris has been entered in the Oeiras Open in Portugal which gets underway on Monday.

Harris will however have to play in and do well in the qualifying tournament in order to earn his ticket to Roland Garros.

His coach, Anthony Harris, previously told OFM Sport that after his success in Korea and China he will head to Europe to start focusing on the clay-courts.

“He has played 13 matches in the last three weeks but what he will do in with regards to the French is that he will go to Europe,” said Harris.

“He will do a physical and movement preparation on the clay, play a warm-up event, probably a Challenger Tour tournament to try and get some matches before he goes to compete at Roland Garros.”

The 2024 French Open qualifying starts on 20 May, and the main draw will get underway on the 26th.
